KODIAK COMMUNITY ORAL HISTORY PROJECT. Transcripts; 1971-1983. .4 cu. ft.

The Kodiak Community Oral History Project was developed to conduct oral history interviews of long-time residents as well as to gather and transcribe tapes of interviews completed during the 1970's. The project was funded by the Alaska Historical Commission and was conducted during 1983 and 1984. Interviewers for the project were Joanne B. Mulcahy, Joan F. Connors, and Michelle Ryan.

The collection consists of copies of transcripts from 20 oral history interviews of Kodiak residents. Interview topics include Kodiak during World War II, the Baptist and Russian Orthodox Missions, Aleut basketry, village life, midwifery, native food and medicinal uses for plants, folk stories, and information on Kodiak geography.

The collection was presented to the archives by the Kodiak Historical Society in 1984.
