The collection consists of a narrative history of Fort Richardson Army Base in Alaska, written by Lt. Richard Fagan with assistance from Gladys Kirton. The history covers the period from the early plans for Fort Richardson through 1944 and includes appendices on the military strength of Fort Richardson 1942-1943, and on wage rates for Fort Richardson. Also included is Volume II for April-September, 1944, written by Lt. Emerson R. Wallace assisted by Joseph H. Ramquist and Norman R. Muldoon; and an expanded version of the history edited by Lyman Woodman. He wrote an introduction and added to the text and footnotes.
The collection was presented to the archives by Lyman Woodman in 1983, and additions were made in 1985 and 1987.
