HERBERT G. JILL (1917-1973). Letter; October 30, 1950. .1 cu. ft.

Herbert Jill was a captain in the U. S. Army. He was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base in 1950. He had previously been stationed at Camp Kilmer, a staging area for east coast ports near New Brunswick, New Jersey. Herbert Jill died in Torrington, Connecticut, in 1973.

The collection consists of a letter written by Captain Herbert Jill to his brother Frank, at the time he was stationed at Elmendorf Air Force Base. In the letter, Jill writes about his life in Alaska, including scenery, agriculture, weather, living costs, fellow officers, recreation, and inter-service sports (football and track).

The collection was acquired by the archives in 2004.
