Collection description:
This collection consists of eighteen letters to and from Rosalind Endter Koesting, one empty envelope, and two teacher’s contracts. Twelve of the letters are from Rosalind to her mother, Mrs. Alexander Endter, describing her living conditions, activities, jobs, and plans. Three of the letters were sent from Seattle prior to her move to Anchorage, eight from Anchorage, and one undated letter from her home in New Jersey after her marriage. In the letters from Anchorage, Rosalind describes her living conditions, makes requests for clothing, and describes her participation in various USO dances in Anchorage. The remaining letters are from Alaskan friends and co-workers to Rosalind discussing their personal lives, common friends, and events in the Anchorage public schools. One of the contracts is from the Anchorage Public School for the 1945-1946 school year (where Rosalind Endter did not teach) and one from the Borough of Verona Board of Education, Essex County, New Jersey for the 1946-1947 school year.
