Biographical note:
Al E. Beyer was from Pleasanton, California. In the summer of 1994, he completed a motorcycle tour to Alaska covering over seven thousand road miles. His tour included travel on the Alaska, Klondike, Top of the World, Taylor, Richardson, Parks, Seward, Sterling, Glenn, and Dempster Highways, and the Tok Cuttoff. It also included an extended stay in Anchor Point for fishing and an Alaska Ferry trip on the M. V. Columbia from Skagway to Bellingham, Washington.

Collection description:
The collection consists of the photograph album and related papers of motorcycle tourist Al E. Beyer. The album contains 254 color prints. Subjects of the photographs include scenery, wildlife, motels, lodges, and various tourist attractions on his trip from California to Alaska and return. The associated papers include: a newspaper profile of Beyer in the Tri Valley Herald (July 30, 1994), a detailed itinerary of the trip, an Arctic Circle crossing certificate, Alaska Ferry booking letter, brochures, maps, fishing licenses, and business cards.

Arrangement: Photographs in the collection are in chronological order.
