Biographical note:
Ray Burgess was born in 1939 in Yakima, Washington and moved to Alaska as a child. After high school he left Alaska and became a land surveyor. In 1975 he returned to Alaska, settling in Seward in 1976 and opening a surveying business called Alaska Land Surveys. He served on the Seward City Council in the 1980s. In 1992 he left Alaska and later retired. He died in 2007.

Collection description:
The collection consists of 35 survey drawings on mylar depicting locations within and near Seward, Alaska. The survey drawings are based on a local coordinate system developed by Mr. Burgess.

Arrangement: The mylars were retained in the order in which they were given to the Archives.
