Collection description:
This collection consists of the diary and photographs of a man who visited Alaska on a hunting trip in 1903. The hunter traveled to Alaska from New York by train and boat. After arriving in Juneau, the man and his partner set up camp on Admiralty Island where they shoot several bears. While in Alaska he also visited a mining operation outside Juneau. The diary is 54 pages long and contains entries beginning on July 5, 1903, and ending at least one month later, with no exact dates given. Also included in the collection are 4 black and white photographs of the diary’s author, his partner Phelps, and a native guide.
