Biographical note:
William Newlove was born in 1898 in St. Joseph, Missouri, and died in 1969. He lived most of his life in Kansas City, Missouri. Newlove worked as part of the construction crew on the Alaska Highway, possibly as an employee of the Sears Construction Company of Iowa.
Collection description:
This collection consists of William Newlove’s photographs from his time working on a Alaska Highway construction crew. The collection contains: 78 black and white prints; 17 black and white photo post cards; and 17 copy negatives of selected images. Subjects of the photographs include: construction workers and support staff, equipment, vehicles, buildings, and pipe-laying activities. Included in the post cards are images of the Gulkana Roadhouse, the S.S. Yukon at Columbia Glacier, and various buildings in Fairbanks.
Arrangement: The photographs are in the order in which they were presented to the Archives.
