Collection summary: Correspondence Reverend Jessup and his wife received from her son, Gust Mihleder, and his fellow soldiers at Fort Gibbons.

Biographical note:
Reverend Jessup and his wife lived in Little Rock, Arkansas. Their son, Gust Mihleder, was stationed with the “A” 16th Infantry at Fort Gibbons, Alaska from 1910-1911. While serving at Fort Gibbons, he was promoted to 1st sergeant.

Collection description:
The collection consists of 17 postcards addressed to Mrs. J.N. Jessup or Reverend J.N. Jessup. A majority of the postcards are from Gust to his mother describing his life at Fort Gibbons.  Mrs. J.N. Jessup also received a few letters from Gust’s fellow soldiers: Chas H. Loomer, Fred Gutman, and Henry T. Lafferty.  The postcards show photographs and drawings of Fort Gibbons, Tanana, and other areas in Alaska around 1910-1911.

Arrangement: Postcards are in chronological order.
