Access restrictions:

Unpacking of the collection is still underway. The Archives is making the collection accessible as it is unpacked, reboxed into archival boxes, described, and placed into archival storage. The container list below reflects only the portions of the collection available at this time.

Some correspondence and office files may contain confidential medical information. Requests for access to the office and correspondence files should be made in advance of a research visit so archivists can redact any confidential information prior to researcher access. The inventory will indicate boxes that contain known closed materials that are inaccessible.

Rights note: The Archives owns copyright only to collection materials authored by Betsy or Milo Fritz.

Preferred citation: Betsy and Milo Fritz family papers, Archives and Special Collections, Consortium Library, University of Alaska Anchorage.

Separated materials: Betsy Fritz’s genealogical records are held separately and were transferred to the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) archives. The books in Milo’s medical and Alaskana library (approximately 105 linear feet) are being placed in the Consortium Library’s Rare Books collection and can be accessed through the Consortium Library catalog.

Acquisition note: The collection was left to the Anchorage Museum at Rasmuson Center as a bequest in Betsy Fritz’s will. The papers were held at the Fritz residence in Anchor Point until Betsy’s death in 2009, at which point the Museum transferred legal title to the papers to the Archives, and the papers were shipped to the Archives.

Processing information: This collection description was begun in 2010 by Arlene Schmuland. At this time, the volume notes reflect the estimated total volume of the series  and the date spans reflect the estimated date spans of the series for the materials that are currently available for access. Volume counts will be subject to change as the collection is described and consolidated. Some of this data is as yet undetermined and the series descriptions indicate where data is missing. The letter T, B, or G in front of a box number indicates that these are temporary box numbers.
